Vehicle Inventory
Rescue 1 responds first due to all car accidents, hazmat incidents, and most medical calls, and third due to structure fires in the City of Monticello fire district. It has a 750 gallon water tank with a 1,500 gallon per minute pump. Rescue 1 carries a variety of firefighting tools and equipment as well as medical bags. Rescue 1 is also equipped with a deck gun, light tower, extrication equipment, gas monitor, thermal imaging camera, and more. | |
Engine 1 responds first due to all mutual aid calls in neighboring districts, as well as second due to all fires in the City of Monticello fire district. Engine 1 has a 1,000 gallon water tank with a 1,250 gallon per minute pump. Engine 1 is set up very similar to Engine 3 carrying primarily firefighting equipment. | |
Engine 3 responds first due to all fires within the City of Monticello fire district. Engine 3 has a 1,000 gallon water tank with a 1,500 gallon per minute pump. Engine 3 carries a host of firefighting tools including a Thermal Imaging Camera and deck gun. | |
Squad 1 responds as needed to all calls within the City of Monticello fire district and neighboring districts. Squad 1 is often used for personnel transport when extra firefighters are needed. Squad 1 carries medical equipment for EMA calls as well as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs) for fires. | |
The Gator responds first due to all brush or field fires in the City of Monticello fire district and per request to our mutual aid districts. The Gator is equipped with a KimTek FireLite skid unit which holds 55 gallons of water, a small pump and booster reel, and a stokes basket. |

Grant Awards
The Monticello Fire & Rescue Department has been fortunate enough to pursue and be awarded recent grant opportunities, which allow for the Department to upgrade and add to fire protection equipment without putting an additional burden on the City of Monticello's general fund and taxpayers.
The Department is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the following organizations and entities:
Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshall (2021)
$22,398.00 for the purchase of 22 radios, batteries and chargers
Illinois Department of Natural Resources (2021)
$8,235.00 for the purchase of 20 pages, and 4 complete sets of turnout gear
Apex Energy/ Goose Creek Wind (2020)
$2,835.56 for the purchase of a new AED unit
