What are the conditions that must be found before the Zoning Board of Appeals grants a variance?
The Zoning Board of Appeals may recommend to the City Council the granding of a variance, and the City Council shall grant a variance only when the granting of the variance will be in harmony with the general purposes and intent of these regulations, and will not be injurious to the neighborhood, detrimental to the public welfare or in conflict with the City's master plan.

Can conditions be attached to the granting of a variance?
The Zoning Board of Appeals may recommend to the City Council, and the City Council may impose such conditions and restrictions upon the location, construction, design and use of the property benefitted by a variance as may be necessary or appropriate to comply with the standards listed below and to protect adjacent proeprty and property values.

How do I appeal a zoning decision made by the Zoning Administrator?
If you wish to appeal a decision made by the Zoning Administrator or any officer or department of the City, you must submit your appeal in writing to the Zoning Administrator within 45 days of the action complained of, specifying the grounds thereof.  The Zoning Administrator shall forthwith transmit to the Zoning Board of Appeals all the papers constituting the record upon wchich the action appealed from is taken.  The Zoning Board of Appeals shall hold a hearing and make a recommendation to the City Council, who shall vote on whether or not to approve the appeal.
