The City of Monticello is interested in hiring two part-time, temporary employees as soon as possible to perform the following tasks:

Paint & Maintain Fire Hydrants
This person will be responsible for painting and performing maintenance on all of the fire hydrants within a community.  The City will provide all the necessary tools, equipment, maintenance supplies and paint supplies.  The employee will be required to provide their own vehicle/bicycle/cart/etc. to work from.  Some of the maintenance includes lubricating hydrant threads, filling hydrant stem with oil, turning hydrant on and off, scraping paint, applying new paint and pulling/removing weeds and grass from around the hydrant.  Once adequiate guidance and instruction has been given, the employee will work unsupervised to perform their duties.  The employee will work under the direction of the water plant operator and the public works director, and be responsible for keeping both up to date on their progress daily.

Televising, Jetting and Maintaining Sanitary & Storm Sewer System:
This person will be assisting  the City operator of the televising, jetting and maintenance equipment for the sanitary & storm sewer system.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting the operator of the camera system, jet machine and all related tools and equipment associated with televising, cleaning and maintaining the sewer lines.  This employee will work under the director of the System Operator (or other assigned  person), and the public works director.  This employee will be required to wear safety shoes/boots at all times.  The work hours will typically be within the time period of Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm during the appropriate weather and conditions.  However, there may be periods of time where services are necessary after hours and on weekends.  Operation of the televising and jetting equipment is highly unlikely during freezing weather.

Both part-time, temporary positions pay $10.00 per hour with no benefits.  The pay period will be every two weeks as it is with all city employees.

Applications for part-time temporary help may be picked up and filed at the Monticello Municipal Building, 210 N. Hamilton St.
