The Monticello Area Arts Council has partnered with the Monticello Parks & Recreation Department to offer the community summer enrichment art courses.  All courses will be taught in the Monticello Area Arts Council Studio, located in the Livingston Center (former Leiper Warehouse) at 224 E. Livingston.

July/August course offerings include:

The Art of Bookmaking (For ages 10 through adult)
Instructor:  Merry Lanker
Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 13th, 15th, 20th & 22nd from 10am - 11am
Description: Learn the history of bookmaking as an art and various binding techniquest such as Japanese,
pamphlet and accordion.  Create examples of each for musing your own drawings, poems, collections and more.

Fabric Arts - Tie Dye & Batik (For ages 10 through adult)
Instructor:  Merry Lanker
Dates:  Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 13th, 15th, 20th & 22nd from 1pm - 2pm
Description: Learn to tie dye and batik- bring your own whites and transform them into something bright
and colorful.

Acting for Beginners (For ages 10 through adult)
Instructor:  Rachel Miller
Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays, July 12th, 14th, 19th & 21st from 2:30pm - 4pm
Description: Learn the basics of acting and developing a character!

Directing for Beginners (For ages 10 through adult)
Instructor:  Rachel Miller
Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 13th, 15th, 20th & 22nd from 2:30 - 4:00pm
Description: Learn the basics of putting a vision on stage, or how to make a show go where you want it to
go.

Portrait Painting (For ages 10 through adult)
Instructor:  Jacob Beccue
Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays, August 3rd, 5th, 10th & 12th, 7pm - 8:30pm
Description:  Create a realistic portrait using the photograph and grid system with acrylic paint on canvas board.

Improvisation
Instructor: Rachel Miller
Dates:  Mondays & Wednesdays, August 2nd, 4th, 9th & 11th, 7pm - 8:30pm
Description:  Spontaneous, hilarious and fun! Join us for games that entertain and deepen the abilities of
actors new and old.

Shakespeare 1
Instructor:

Dates:   Monday through Thursday, August 2nd - 5th, 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Description:  Think Shakespeare is boring?  Not so!  Learn what he's really saying and how to show others.

Shakespeare 2- Unrehearsed!
Instructor
: Rachel Miller
Dates: Monday through Thursday, August 9th - 12th, 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Description:  Rumored to be the actual method used by actors in the days of Shakespeare, this acting style
brings a whole new flavor to any performance.

The courses are $20 per class and are all taught by Merry Lanker.

Registration forms can be downloaded HERE and submitted at the Monticello Municipal Building, 210 N. Hamilton.  Space is limited so register early!
