Severe Weather/Tornado Information

The following policy was prepared in an effort to educate and safeguard the residents and visitors within the City of Monticello, in the event that severe weather should approach this community.  When the siren is activated for severe weather or tornado purposes, residents should take cover immediately.

 

When is the siren activated by dispatch?

1.  National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for Piatt County with Monticello listed in the path.

2.  National Weather Service indicates tornado on radar with Monticello in the path.
3.  Law Enforcement, Weather Spotter or ESDA verify funnel aloft or on the ground within Piatt County with Monticello in the path.   

4.  Dispatch Discretion based upon available information.

 

There will be no "All Clear" siren activated.
