Mayor Mitze

 

Mayor Bill Mitze says he ran for office to give something back to a community that his family loves.  Mitze was elected to his first official term as Mayor this spring having previously sat on the Monticello City Council for 18 years.  A school administrator for 27 years, he and wife Pat moved to Monticello in 1970 and have three grown children, two sons who live in Monticello and a daughter in Naperville.  Mitze is a member of Monticello Rotary, the American Legion, and Christ Lutheran Church.  To Contact Mayor Mitze please call the Municipal Building at 762-2583 or his home at 762-2869.

  


The City of Monticello is divided into 4 wards, each having 2 alderman.  When elected, alderman serve a term of 4 years.  


 _ Ward 1     

James Allman was elected to the city council in May 2001.  Contact Jim at 762-3059.

Tim Hayes hopes to keep Monticello as "the best place to live work, and play in Central Illinois.   Hayes was elected to the current city council in 2003 but previously served as alderman from 1973-1976.  He is a self-employed independent insurance salesperson and masonry contractor.  A father of four, Hayes graduated Monticello High School then went on to attend Illinois Wesleyan.  His phone number is 762-2298.

 

__Ward 2    
Pete Vanderkloot was appointed in August 2000 to fill an unexpired term and won his election in 2001. He is an engineering technician for the City of Champaign, and has two children.  Pete's phone number is 762-5507.
Kevin Hiller was elected into his position in Ward II in 2007, after being appointed to the position to fill a vacancy in 2006.  Kevin works as a Co-Product Merchandiser for Tate and Lyle in Decatur.  He can be reached at 762-2531.

 

_  Ward 3    
Mark McHale was appointed to City Council in June 2004 to fill a vacancy in Ward 3 and won his election in 2005. Call Mark at 762-9978.
Michael Brown was appointed to the City Council in June of 2007 to fill a vacancy in Ward 3.  Michael is a band director at Franklin Middle School in Champaign.  He and his wife Kathy have four children.  Contact Michael at 762-9461.

 

_  Ward 4    
Vince Kuetemeyer follows a family tradition of holding City office, as both his father and brother were past Aldermen for the City of Monticello.  Vince is a retired university professor and contractor.  He felt it was his responsibility as a citizen to run for office in Ward IV.  Vince can be reached at 762-4069.
Chris Corrie, and wife Lynn, have lived and owned a business in Monticello for the past 21 years. Two grown sons round out the family. Corrie was victorious in his first attempt at city office in 2005 when he was elected to his first term on the Monticello City Council.  He says he brings his good people skills and his interest in maintaining a healthy business community to the council. Corrie is active as president of Monticello MainStreet and  holds membership in the local chamber of commerce. His phone number is 762-2815.

 

City Clerk

Renee Fruendt was elected as City Clerk in 1993.  She is currently serving out her 4th term as City Clerk of Monticello.

City Treasurer

Joanne Hodges was appointed City Treasurer in 2005.
