Monticello residents can watch local programming on the community's local cable tv access channel, Channel 2, as well as keep informed and up-to-date on community events and activities.  A subscription with Mediacom, the City's cable tv provider, is necessary to receive Channel 2 broadcasts.

Regularly scheduled programming includes City Council meetings, Monticello school sports and activities (when in season), community events, the Illinois Channel, as well as select programming provided by Parkland College's television station, PCTV.

In between scheduled programming, residents can get up-to-date information on community events, public notices, and schedule changes, provided through the cable channel message board.  A 24-hour weather crawler is displayed between programs, as well as any current public service announcements.  Area residents are encouraged to submit an event for broadcast either online, by email, or by calling 762-2583.  Only not-for-profit organization events will be posted, and all submittals are subject to Editor's approval.

Residents are also encouraged to request or turn in specific events to be broadcasted on Channel 2, pending Editor's approval.  DVD format may be submitted to the City of Monticello Municipal Building, 210 N. Hamilton, Monticello, IL 61856.

The City of Monticello looks forward to providing quality programming for local cable tv subscribers.
